All right, I'll start.
My name is Daria-toren. I was born on Karn. Last week a robot named Jim Nightmare (
yonjuunana ) hosted a pizza party in the dreaming. For a short while a space carved out of the formless ether became host to a small group of jiko from all corners of existence.
They posted in a fury. A journal which normally landed only a handful of comments suddenly broke a hundred. I met the handmaiden of an exiled princess and a psychologist committed to the study of raw creation (
rosencrantz ). I summoned a copse of trees, and a man from a thousand years in the future saw one for the first time. I traded notes on death and fear with a necromancer from the Sundered Kingdoms (
galen_6thnecro ).
The wave of connection passed, and I was sad to see them go.
So this is a space to meet again. I call jiko, spirits, soulbonds, characters who've seized a life of their own, from all across the multiverse. If you are invisible, if you are lonely or bored, if you have spent your whole existence talking only to the one or two people who acknowledge your presence, come meet us here.
Any language, words or pictures or sounds or however you communicate, is fair game. What we cannot understand, we will learn.
Come join me in this place where it's all real.

Date: 2008-12-10 10:53 pm (UTC)Anyway, they've left me to myself to study and meditate and there's no Uake and no Fiona, who by the way has gone off with my son! He's four, and - was that a gust of wind? That's how you can tell he's around. Well, anyway, I am so lonely here and *floats up* can I join the conversation?
Re: Gy
Date: 2008-12-11 07:48 pm (UTC)40 to 14, huh? That's funny, I actually met this guy a while ago who sorta looks and acts like he's 14 but is actually in his 40's. So how old are you really?
What happened with your mother? Why was she trying to catch you? That sounds... not good. Really not good.
I can't really give relationship advice. Haven't had any luck there myself. Girls are weird, man.
Re: Gy
Date: 2008-12-12 03:42 am (UTC)Anyway, I was born that way - my mother was messing around on this sphere she found and she was pregnant with me and had to transfer me. There was no one else around so she used one of the locals. I can only think that she was doing some experiments on them too, because my son and I have this - er - quality, where we go wolf. It's considered a childish thing to do on Ua, to imitate animals, but I swear I had no control over it! They all laughed at me in the arem - that's the place where the kids are raised. My mother keeps a group of women there, and their duty is to bear and raise kids for the Masta Ua - that means house of Ua. So UaLin is my Amya - that's your conception mother, and then I had a yaya - that's the one who raises you. I got pushed around a lot in the arem because my Amya just dropped me off there and didn't explain where I came from, plus my uza was weak and all I could do for a while was turn into a wolf.
But then it turned out that my uza got stronger later, when they tried to hurt me. Then I showed them! But that made them get more interested in me to put me in the Kifu...are you sure you want to hear all this? I'm a little tired right now. I could continue later.
Re: Gy
Date: 2008-12-12 11:01 pm (UTC)You don't have to explain or keep talking if you're tired. I am kinda curious now, though. It sounds like you've really been through a lot.
Man, I really get what you're saying about the little kid stuff. Kids can be jerks. Being the only robot in my elementary school class was... yeah, it was rough. *shrugs* Turning into a wolf sounds pretty cool to me.
Re: Gy
Date: 2008-12-13 12:17 am (UTC)how do you shrug? what kind of skin is that? what's your energy source?
oops. I was supposed to be talking about Ua. I've been to Dirt - er - Earth, I mean. I've heard stories about djinn and genies in lamps, and I guess that is about the same as the Kifu. Its a wood box, and there's special spells put on it, and the wood is special, and all of that makes your uza stronger, and available to the person who put the spells on the box. The Raba - those are the leaders on Ua - all have kifu, but no one else does, because you need the uza of a Raba to make one. It takes a lot!
My mother is really powerful, and she likes power. She *said* she wanted to bring the water back, but I think she just wanted to see how powerful she could get. The women on Ua, for some reason, have more uza than the men, but the kifu seems to work better with a man in it. So if you belong to a royal family and have a lot of uza you have two choices: be a woman and get trained as a raba, or be a man and get put in a kifu. It's your duty if you choose to be male. A lot of men don't think its so bad because it only lasts 20 years and your uza stays higher when you come out. Did I mention that in most cases only the raba who put you in can let you out? *Grin* But *I* broke out, and so did my son. I bet they change the spells now, but I sang my way out. I'm not sure how Sha got out.
Re: Gy
Date: 2008-12-13 06:58 pm (UTC)How do I shrug? I, uh, move my shoulders? *shrugs again*
Yeah, I've heard stories about genies before. Guess I'm pretty glad I'm not from your world. Getting stuffed into a box for 20 years doesn't sound like fun. *grins* Even if it's like a Tardis. That's really awesome that you were able to break out.
Bring the water back? Where did the water go?
Re: Gy
Date: 2008-12-14 06:35 am (UTC)The water? No one really knows where it went. It just dried up over time. At least that's what I heard. There was a theory that it was because there were too many kifu, but some thought that Uzazya was angry with us. I don't know. I don't really care, as long as she doesn't try to put me in the kifu again. Ya knows what *that* might do to me!
Re: Gy
Date: 2008-12-16 06:51 am (UTC)Hey Gy, Daria was talking about a place called Dekan. Said you could take me there. But, uhh, could you tell me a little about the place before I decide if I should go there or not? I want to make sure it's safe for me, and what to expect. I've never really traveled much before.
Re: Gy
Date: 2008-12-17 05:34 pm (UTC)Dekan's this town outside of Tapolith, where I used to live. That's where the so called undesirables live, but Tapolith is a trade town full of rich people and snobs, so that makes even a person like me undesirable.
They're much nicer in Dekan. You don't need any currency; you can walk in someplace and offer to do chores for your room and fare. Dekan's full of kids that got kicked out of Tapolith for one reason or another, and they get adopted into households, or just run in the streets.
They like fighting over in Dekan - they call it sparring, and its mostly good natured unless the Tap are involved. The Tap are the police of Tapolith. They like going over to Dekan to challenge folks, and they pretty often get beaten, so they keep coming back. Its fun to watch, and afterwards everyone goes for a mug of tea. I guess you can't drink tea, but I bet Basquis Yup could get you a battery or two. He runs the Tizzy - the biggest inn in Dekan. He does well enough that he serves the tea for free. You have to buy the ale and food, but if you tell him Gillian sent you, he'll put your first meal on his account.
It's relaxed over there - they take any arguments out back, where there's a sparring place. There is some odd stuff, like one of the serving girls has a pet crocodile. But its a good place to relax, and you can stay overnight in the rooms upstairs. They won't care if you look odd - they've seen everything over in Dekan.
I'll go with you, if you like, and show you the sights.

Re: Gy
Date: 2008-12-12 03:16 am (UTC)Yeh. Pyraxis tells me 'bout you but I don't think we've come face to face. I'm Daria.

Date: 2008-12-12 03:40 am (UTC)Half the time, I don't even recognize me.It makes me wish I hadn't run away. I wish I had studied magic or even The Way. Instead I did what I wanted to do, and they let me as long as I promised to put seed in the arem and do the Kifu. *Grin* And I didn't even do that!
But I did all right, especially after Gillian adopted me. That tent was the best thing that happened to me. *Looks thoughtful* Maybe I should go back. Maybe the tent could fix me...
Re: Gy
Date: 2008-12-12 03:50 am (UTC)Gillian? Adopted you? You are Gillian! Don't you remember?
And he's not your son, he's the boy that came out of the chest. You didn't even know who he was! Or if he is your son, how did he get in the box to begin with?
Gy
Date: 2008-12-12 04:18 am (UTC)Anyway, I walked into this tent and the proprietor offered me a job. Funny thing, as soon as I signed the contract he vanished. And he *is* my son. But now that you say he's not, I can't remember why I thought he was...
Ugh. I need more of that tea. I'm going back to Dekan.
Re: Gy
Date: 2008-12-13 02:45 am (UTC)I forgot there were a bunch of Gillians. What was the Gillian like that hired you? Did you get to talk to him at all before he disappeared?
If you go to Dekan, wait for me. It's been a while, and I hear the tea does interesting things to you.
