I painted it from photo reference that I'd taken that day from the front yard. I got really lucky that day and the cub had a long nap. He hasn't been napping at all on weekends recently unless we're driving around in the car. But that afternoon he slept in his bed and so I had time to actually do some art, which was really really nice.
(btw we started reading your book and also converted it to an epub because the pdf turned out to be really awkward to read because the font wouldn't change size)
