It's Rembrandt chalk pastel on dusky red textured paper. Rembrandt's the second-best brand and I had a small set that I had to get for advanced figure drawing classes in university, but then Shashigai went and found a set of like 48 on eBay for cheap because they were pretty old. He's really good at things like that.
I think there's a lot of things wrong with it. One because I didn't lay the pastel on thickly enough in some places. Two because I didn't use workable fixative for layers along the way, just final fixative at the end, so it took some of the vibrancy out of the colors. Three because there are seams showing through from the backboard. Four, the proportions are off in parts of Angie's face.
