It is beautiful, j-t. And the subject matter is really lovely, and looks like a special shared moment between mother and daughter. How old is her daughter now?

Verdigris would like to know what medium it was?

This is really nice... You do really cool stuff with color and lighting. I like how you drew the folds in the fabric.

I love the vibrant colors that pastels can create but unfortunately I've never been able to use them much because I have a sensory thing against some chalky/dusty textures. I had to use pastels a bit at college, and I really liked how the pieces turned out, but I only managed to do them by wearing gloves to handle the pastels and taking a whole lot of breaks.

I found a pastel/charcoal holder in the craft shop. I bought it, forgot to try it. No idea if that would help you get around that sensory thing. I myself thought it might help with the messiness of them!
I never took to oil pastels, I never seemed to be able to get them to do what I wanted :-(

I love the way you did the fabric too, j-t! And the lighting. And choice of colours.

ROFL!!! Seriously I DO like the way the fabric is done. Leonie Approves too (we always get her to help whenever we draw fabric, and Eddy used to get her to help when he was painting his warhammer models, his models had the most realistic, accurate clothing of any warhammer armies we ever saw ;-P)

If you want my art-reviewer honest critic, I will give it to you?

hehe! Leonie said to suggest the term "sewing fanatic" *grins*

Ok will do. gotta go to work (hopefully) soon, so will do it later.
And you to ok? I want critique too - it is the only real way of getting better huh?

Hahaha, guess we're opposites with pastels- I really liked oil pastels when I was a kid, thought they were fun and liked the texture, although I haven't used them in a very long time since I tend to like less messy mediums.

Are you going to post pics of your latest craft stuff?

I'll try to do that soon! The floor of my room is currently covered in finished and half-finished projects. :P Waiting for a sunny day so I can go outside and spray more of the mod-podged boxes with acrylic coating to finish them. Having to work overtime a bit this week but hopefully I'll find some time to finish everything up and take photos by this weekend.

About critiques, since you mentioned them: I don't see anything other than what you already mentioned, and even those things aren't all that noticeable. You mentioned seams showing through- are they the faint lines in the upper left part? Not sure if I can tell from the photo. If they are, I actually think it adds to the texture of the whole thing and looks kind of neat. :)
