Clearwater

A pen-and-ink drawing of weathered rocks by the seashore. The surfaces of the rocks are encrusted with weathered clamshells and the sand is speckled with tiny black shells.

Reference photo of the same seashore, showing a stretch of beach with gritty sand made totally from shell parts, strewn with seaweed and scattered with dark rocks.

The same shore seen looking inward to a sandy slope topped with tropical scrub, and a row of tall palm trees in the distance.

Further inland, a twisted tree looming over a tropical path, with odd-shaped twining branches arching over towards the camera.

Another view of the path, framed with trees and ferns and creeping vines.

A close-up of some shells, the largest as big as the palm of a hand. There are three heavy grey-white clam shells, three smaller scallops an inch and a half across, and two twisted clumps of rock and clamshells cemented together.
